I am currently on a train from Budapest, Hungary to Krakow, Poland. It is cool and cloudy and it is getting dark at 4:15 PM. But then, it is November in central Europe.
However, Jo and I started this fall on a cruise on the Duoro river in Portugal. It was a wonderful time with great landscapes, wonderful fellowship with church friends who we have known for 30 years and awe inspiring medieval churches and buildings .
It was a great 10 days after which everyone went their own directions. Some went on post trip visits, some went directly home and I left for Logrono, Spain.
Last Spring, I hiked the Camino de Santiago but missed two weeks as I recovered from a bad set of blisters. I returned to Logrono to hike a 300 km stretch of the Meseta that I missed due to the blisters. It’s wide horizons, low clouds and dramatic landscapes reminded me of the high plains in the American west. Except for all the medieval churches and castles.
After I finished on the Camino, flew to Budapest to visit our former foreign exchange student and her new baby and family. It was so good to see them after about 10 years.
Now I am off to Krakow to meet up with my team mates from the Global Care Force for onward travel to the Ukraine. I will post while in the Ukraine, but for security reasons, I won’t post anything about an area until at least two days after we depart. Even then, I will be intentionally vague about place names.
Thanks for following me on this blog and thanks for supporting me with your prayers and financial support. God bless you.
